With frequent use, leather tends to stretch and lose its fit. hi-biax products equip leather applications for longer life. Stretch value is precisely defined in advance. It can vary from a few percentage points, e.g. on the back of the seat, to zero percent for large-area applications with taut upholstery. The use of hi-biax products enables the standardisation of the leather skin's stretch values, thereby extending its life by up to 30 percent.

hi-biax also helps to achieve a marked reduction in weight, because thinner and lighter leathers can be used, which means essential added value for the automotive and aeronautical industries. The use of specially treated leather skins in combination with hi-biax/hi-defire products satisfies the tough requirements of the kerosene burner test (as per FAR/JAR 25.853 App. F, Part II).
