Extreme tests for emergency situations

Decorative fabrics and laminates for applications in danger zones (e.g. occupational safety or aircraft construction applications) have to comply with stringent fire protection regulations. They also have to satisfy high fire, smoke and toxicity performance requirements. Relative flammability is determined by the Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI). All hi-defire products are made of materials with an LOI of at least 33. This means that textile products which have been optimised with hi-defire will not burn in oxygen concentrations of less than 33 percent. By comparison, the oxygen concentration in the Earth's atmosphere is only 21 percent.

The products in the hi-defire range differ in terms of weight, colour and three further important aspects:

· Products with high mechanical stability (abrasion)
